History

Yapraklı Vocational School was established on July 29, 2010, by Decision No. 3673 of the Council of Higher Education. The Field Crops Program was established within the Department of Plant and Animal Production, followed by Private Security and Protection, Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Defense and Firefighting, and Emergency and Disaster Management Programs within the Department of Property Protection and Security. In 2018, the Hunting and Wildlife Program was established within the Department of Forestry, and the Photography and Videography Program was established within the Department of Audiovisual Techniques and Media Production. Of these programs, students were admitted to the Field Crops Program in the 2012–2013 academic year, the Private Security and Protection Program in the 2013–2014 academic year, and the Occupational Health and Safety Program in the 2014–2015 academic year. Students were admitted to the regular program of Civil Defense and Firefighting in the 2015-2016 academic year, and to the evening program in the 2016-2017 academic year. Students were admitted to the regular program of Hunting and Wildlife in the 2019-2020 academic year.

Our university`s proposal to change the name of our Vocational School was reviewed at the General Assembly of Higher Education meeting held on June 1, 2022, and approved in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880, the name of our Vocational School was changed to the Vocational School of Social Sciences. On the other hand, our university`s proposal to transfer the Field Crops Program under the Department of Plant and Animal Production and the Hunting and Wildlife Program under the Department of Forestry, both of which are part of our Vocational School, to the Vocational School of Food and Agriculture, was reviewed at the General Assembly of Higher Education on June 21, 2022, and was approved, provided that the status of existing students is preserved, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880. Our university`s proposal to transfer the Social Services Program under the Department of Social Services and Counseling, which is within the Vocational School of Food and Agriculture and has no students, and the Business Administration Program under the Department of Management and Organization, which also has no students, to our Vocational School was reviewed at the Higher Education Executive Board on June 15, 2022, and was approved, in accordance with Article 7/d-2 of Law No. 2547, as amended by Law No. 2880. Our Vocational School continues its educational activities at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on our university`s Uluyazı Campus.

Our Vocational School employs a total of 17 academic staff, including 3 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, and 11 Lecturers. There are also 4 administrative staff, including 1 Acting School Secretary, 1 Acting Chief, and 2 Computer Operators.
